From harrow to hydraulic cylinder
Edvin Larssons Mekaniska AB (ELMAB) was founded in Sweden in 1946. In the mid-1960s, ELMAB began manufacturing hydraulic cylinders – which would prove to be a success factor. The business expanded markedly over the following years with numerous developments and acquisitions.
In 2023, ELMAB brought in Grönskär Gruppen AB as a growth partner and co-owner, with the aim of expanding and developing the company further. ELMAB continues to be family run by the fourth-generation descendant of founder Edvin Larsson: CEO Fredrik Bertils.
Our business concept & vision
Our business concept is to supply our clients with high-quality hydraulic cylinders and hydraulic components. Quality in product, delivery and service has been our hallmark for many years and something that we constantly work to maintain and develop. Our vision is to be a world leader in the manufacture of hydraulic systems and hydraulic components for niche markets. With a focus on sustainability and efficiency, we will develop our range to remain the best on the market.

ELMAB will deliver products and services that meet our customers’ requirements and expectations, where our ambition is to create long-term client relationships. This means that:
- We will ensure that we understand the customer’s needs and will through responsiveness and continuous customer dialogue adapt the content and scope of our support.
- All manufacturing is carried out by qualified personnel who carry out in-house inspections.
- We manufacture products that meet product specifications.
- We deliver the right products at the right time and in the right quantity to our customers.
- Complaints are processed quickly and professionally.
- We will fulfil relevant requirements, as well as work actively with continuous improvements.
At ELMAB, we have a responsibility towards the environment as well as towards customers, employees, owners and other stakeholders. We must reduce the impact on the environment as far as it is technically possible and economically reasonable.
- We work actively to achieve improved and more efficient processes, always with the customer and the environment in focus.
- We use our natural resources with care, and strive to use products that are renewable, recyclable and suitable for a circular society.
- We will constantly increase the competence and environmental commitment of our employees.
- We will continuously improve our efforts and consider laws and regulations as well as other requirements that affect us as a minimum level.
- We further our own environmental work and environmental management system through improvements.
At ELMAB, we do our utmost to protect your personal integrity and act in accordance with current legal requirements for data and personal data protection.
We register information about customers, suppliers and employees and store information in business systems and payroll systems. We process personal data in the form of e-mail, name, personal identity number or organisation number, telephone number and address. The data is used for the purpose of fulfilling business agreements.
We may also use the personal data in order to follow up with customer relationships and possibly to send out offers.
In cases where information is provided to us via e-mail, consent is given to any personal data being registered.
Our company strives to maintain an open business climate with high business ethics. We protect the safety and respect for all people affected by our business.
Our whistleblower service is an ‘early warning system’ to help reduce risks. It is important to protect good corporate governance and preserve our customers’ and the public’s trust in us.
You do not need to have proof of your suspicion, but all communications must be made in good faith.

For us, an active participation in community associations is important, which is why we sponsor over 20 different local associations, mainly focused on children and youth. That the whole vicinity should thrive and share in our success is a matter of course for us. Below is a description of how ELMAB works with sponsorships:
Dala-Järna IK, Nås IK, Äppelbo IK and Vansbro AIK are four examples of historic sports associations that form the backbone of sports life in Västerdalarna – our immediate vicinity within the Swedish province Dalarna. Each of these clubs has a long tradition of creating commitment and community through their respective sports, including football, ice hockey, skiing and other sports. They offer a place where children, young people and adults can grow, develop and create meaningful experiences together.
ELMAB sponsors these associations because we see them as invaluable pillars in the local community. Their activities contribute not only to physical health, but also to building strong, cohesive and active communities. By supporting local sports associations, we want to be part of this positive force and contribute to creating opportunities for everyone to participate in sports and community. Our sponsorship is an investment in the future, where we work together with the clubs to promote an active and healthy lifestyle in our region.
ELMAB is pleased to be able to sponsor individual elite efforts, such as our current support for skier Moa Ilar and biathlete Alfred Eriksson. We believe in the power of supporting talent who demonstrate exceptional dedication, discipline and drive, and who serve as role models both on and off the competition arena.
Moa Ilar is a prominent cross-country skier from Västerdalarna, known for her endurance, strength and technical skill in the track. She has established herself as one of Sweden’s most promising skiers, with several impressive placings in national and international competitions. Moa’s passion for skiing and her quest to reach the top inspires us, and by sponsoring her we want to contribute to her continued development and success.
Alfred Eriksson is a skilled biathlete who combines precision and speed in a way that has taken him to the very top of his sport. With his sharp eye, quick reactions and mental strength, Alfred has proven to be one of Sweden’s most promising young biathletes. His dedication to training and competition, as well as his ambition to achieve international success, make him a perfect ambassador for the values that we at ELMAB stand for.
By supporting Moa Ilar and Alfred Eriksson, ELMAB hopes to not only contribute to their individual successes, but also inspire more young people in our region to invest in their dreams and strive towards reaching their full potential. Our sponsorship of elite ventures is a way of demonstrating our commitment to promoting success and development, both locally and nationally.
